Echo of the Centaur: When Myth Meets the Heart
About
Some legends are remembered. Others are waiting to be found.
Jennifer Liddel expected her two years in England’s Lake District to be quiet. While her veterinarian husband, Maurice, completes advanced research in bovine medicine, she fills her days with writing, riding and exploring the isolated estate they temporarily call home.
Then, beside a marsh, Jennifer discovers what appears to be an injured horse trapped among the reeds.
Maurice comes to help her rescue it.
What they pull from the marsh should not exist.
Hidden in an old barn, injured and unable to communicate, the extraordinary creature presents Jennifer and Maurice with questions neither veterinary science nor common sense can answer. Where did he come from? How long has he been there? Why does he seem to understand them? And, perhaps most troubling of all, how can something belonging to ancient mythology be standing alive before them?
They call him Theron.
As his injuries heal, Theron begins revealing an intelligence and awareness neither of them expected, while fragments of an old local legend suggest that his presence in the Lake District may not be as inexplicable as it first appeared.
But some legends contain warnings as well as answers.
The longer Theron remains hidden from the outside world, the more profoundly his presence changes the lives of the two people who rescued him, particularly Jennifer, who finds herself drawn towards a mystery that is becoming increasingly difficult to separate from the man within the mythical creature.
Their time in England is running out.
Australia is waiting.
And some questions may be safer left unanswered.
Because discovering that a legend is real is one thing. Discovering what it wants may be something else entirely.
Echo of the Centaur: When Myth Meets the Heart is a haunting story of love, loyalty and ancient mystery, where the impossible enters an ordinary marriage and leaves behind a question that may have no answer.
