About Etteleah Books

Etteleah Books is the publishing home of Australian author Michael Holding and his writing pseudonyms, Max Barrington and Joy Wilde.

Based on the Esplanade in Cairns, Far North Queensland, Michael lives with his wife, Lynette. While he is a relative newcomer to the world of writing, having published his first book later in life, being born in 1949 means he certainly isn't a newcomer to life itself.

Originally from Great Britain, Michael has travelled extensively throughout Australia and many parts of the world. Those experiences have found their way into much of his writing, particularly his Australian-based novels, where authentic locations, colourful characters and a strong sense of place feature prominently.

Describing his working life is no easy task. With a career that has included, as he says, 'more changes of direction than Phar Lap had starts'. Michael has accumulated a lifetime of experiences that continue to provide inspiration for his stories. From historical fiction and crime thrillers to humour, memoirs and Australian adventures, his books reflect a lifetime of observation, curiosity and an enduring appreciation for the people and places that make Australia unique.

Whether writing as Michael Holding, Max Barrington or Joy Wilde, his aim remains the same: to tell entertaining stories that readers will remember long after they have turned the final page.
